Senior Sales Engineer

Lightbits is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Sales Engineer to lead technical pre-sales engagements with top enterprise and cloud customers. In this role, you will partner closely with Sales to drive opportunities from discovery through close, serving as a trusted technical advisor. You will design and execute Proofs of Concept, architect high-performance storage solutions, troubleshoot complex environments, and help customers successfully evaluate and deploy Lightbits technology. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges and influencing both revenue and product direction. The position is full time, remote, and can be anywhere in the U.S with preference for Central USA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical strategy for sales opportunities from discovery through close
  • Engage with customer engineers and architects to understand workloads and business needs
  • Support customer performance evaluations and technical deep dives
  • Design, deploy, and execute Proofs of Concept (POCs), including performance validation and troubleshooting
  • Architect and present technical solutions, demos, and evaluations
  • Deliver production-ready solutions and resolve field technical issues
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, R&D, and Customer Success to ensure successful outcomes
  • Translate customer feedback into product insights and feature recommendations

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Pre-Sales
  • Strong experience working with enterprise or cloud customers
  • Solid background in storage, infrastructure, and data center technologies
  • Hands-on experience with Linux system administration
  • Strong networking fundamentals (Ethernet, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with storage systems and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, OpenStack, or cloud platforms – advantage
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software or Electrical Engineering,
