Lightbits Labs accelerates network-based storage for maximum performance

The Tel Aviv-based company Lightbits Labs specializes in developing a network storage environment that can measure up to local flash memory in terms of performance. This high performance approach is a server agnostic NVME / TCP solution, it behaves like local storage for the application, but is therefore fully network oriented. Eran Kirzner , the co-founder and CEO of Lightbits Labs, claims as a company mission: “Accelerating network-based storage for enterprises. Flash memory speed is the benchmark ”.

The data storage thus created can be accessed via WAN and, thanks to the optimization in the protocols and infrastructure, maintains the maximum performance that fits the memory. The latency is a central focus point and completely optimized.

Chairman of the board of directors Avigdor Willenz was also present at the meeting. In the past he has played a central role in starting up and maturing companies. His vision and entrepreneurship has spawned many new initiatives and brought them to success. This includes: Habana Labs recently taken over by Intel, Leaba Semiconductor purchased by Cisco, and Anapurna Labs that went to AWS. Finally, there is Galileo Technology that was already taken over by Marvell in the past. A history that indicates that Lightbits Labs is also in good hands.

Lightbits Labs has a portfolio with three core elements:

LightOS, an environment that realizes a Linux server storage environment based on an Ethernet-based TCP network. In this way, LightOS realizes a Linux NVMe drive connected to NVMe / TCP.

To support, there is the optional LightField PCIe accelerator card that offloads the CPU load required for erasure encoding and data reduction.

Super SSD is a cluster of 24 NVMe SSD arrays that is connected via two 10 Gbps Ethernet ports.

Thanks to this concept, storage costs can drop by about 50% and, in addition to better latency, there is also a more efficient and sustainable use of SSD storage. Giants such as Dell and Cisco are investors in the company that claims to be the only company with this solution.
