Introducing Lightbits Release v3.9.1: Enhancements for AWS, Azure, AVS, and Cluster Management

We are pleased to introduce Lightbits v3.9.1, set to be released on June 19th, 2024. This update includes a variety of enhancements and optimizations, further enhancing our platform to provide an exceptional storage experience for both private and public cloud environments.

AWS Enhancements

Lightbits now allows users to choose the PlacementGroup policy when deploying Lightbits clusters on AWS. This new option provides greater flexibility and control over deployment configurations.

Azure Enhancements

We have updated the list of supported regions for Lightbits on Azure, ensuring broader availability and enhanced performance. This expansion reflects our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our Azure users and delivering superior storage solutions across various regions.

Enhanced Capabilities for Azure VMware Solution (AVS)

In this release, we introduce several new features for Lightbits on AVS that focus on cluster-side auto-healing and scaling. These improvements ensure that your AVS environment remains resilient and can adapt to changes dynamically, enhancing overall system reliability. Additionally, we have increased security by implementing HTTPS on the REST API, making it easier to integrate into your ecosystem and enhancing data protection.

Cluster Management Enhancements

We have improved the accuracy of rebuild progress calculations and enhanced the volume placement logic for better handling of volume replicas. These updates contribute to improved stability and performance of the cluster manager.

Failure Handling Enhancements

We have enabled detection and reporting of read or write stalls, ensuring timely identification and resolution of potential issues

Lightbits CLI (lbcli) and API Enhancements

This release includes several enhancements to the Lightbits CLI and API. The CLI now supports “human-readable” output format in the get server command, and the volume filtering functionality has been improved for the list volumes command by name. Server objects returned by the API now include a health field indicating OK, Warning, or Error, providing more detailed health status information.

Upgrade Simplification

With this release, you can upgrade from previous Lightbits v3.6.x, v3.7.x, v3.8.x, to 3.9.x release.  ensuring a smooth transition to the latest version and access to all the new features and improvements.

We are committed to delivering upgrades every two months to provide continuous innovation and value to our customers. This approach reflects our agility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of our users and drives our ongoing efforts to deliver enhanced features, performance optimizations, and cutting-edge solutions in a timely manner.
